church change chagrin

I don't know 'bout you, but in my neck of the woods, the new year is when our ward/church congregation changes meeting times.

Way back last year, we met at 9 am.  I was always late, and I fully blame it on Alan being at meetings and me not being able to get all four children and myself ready in time (and the fact that with Alan gone I am incapable of waking before 8 am.  what?!).  So, miraculously we only went to church for 2 1/2 hours for almost a year.  And it was good.

Today we started our meetings at 1 pm.  Yes, I was on time.  Yes, I stayed all three hours.  Yes, it is SMACK DAB right during Rhett's nap.  He naps from 1:30-4:30 most days.  Do the math.  Rhett slept for about 20 minutes on Al's lap during church and didn't take any more of a nap today.

I will remind you that Rhett is not quite 13 months old.  Rhett needs his afternoon nap.  (Mommy needs her afternoon nap, too, but I am just old enough to not throw a fit about it.)  Rhett is so tired and can't sleep.  I am afraid that this will cause him to wake up before 8 am and make everyone cranky all week long.

I fully realized today at church that all who were in attendance and under 4 years of age were feeling the same crazed snooze-deficiency.  It will take time getting used to this new block.  Unfortunately, by next year, Rhett probably won't even nap anymore.  And then you will see me in my dressiest best and 4-inch heels raising my fist and pumping it in the air, loudly asking, "WHYYYY?!?!?!"

For real, why!?

a

psst!  Technically, I am done with the whole list of THREE THINGS (for which I am grateful).  Remember, last year I wanted to be more grateful so it was my goal of sorts to do it for a year?  Did it.  Done.  I don't know if I have a goal for this ol' blog this year or if I should get all snarky and write THREE THINGS I wish weren't on this earth.  You know, like 1. disease 2. heartache 3. tramp stamps (lower back tattoos).  Last year was all about being more grateful and this year I am all about not looking backwards and making sick money.  Opinions?  Suggestions?

I HEAR YA!! Such a tough church time. We did it all last year and luckily have moved to 11:00 meetings. Good luck :)

I'm all for the new three things list. It will be a challenge to limit it, don't you think?
We have 11 am church until September (some weird Mesa East Stake quirk, as you may remember), so Evie's good till she's almost two. Then, . . . . hmmmm.

ha ha ha SUCKERS!!! we did 1 p.m. church for 3 years so i feel for you a lot more than a lot of other people ever could. YOU WILL MAKE IT! & so will Rhett. although, i do think we should petition against meetings for husbands. (i'm going to get struck down now right, because all good mormon wives are supposed to say "i am so very happy that he is gone all the time. i support him 100%!".

p.s. become buddhist. then you can just stay at home to reach nirvana!

Somehow I don't think gettin' snarky is going to help you avoid looking backwards OR earn you sick money. After about a month you'll be drowning in a pool of all the things you hate. I do HATE tramp stamps, disease and heartache though. Maybe once a week would be good....

Guess what book our club is reading this month? Matched. Thanks for the loaner - just in time!

I love your three things...but I can understand how tough it would be to come up with something everytime. Grrrrr.

We are lucky. We are the only ward that meets in our church se our meetings are always at 9am...the best time ever! That is until our ward splits and we have to share it and lose friends in the break up...sniffles.
