no sugar tonight

Nor tomorrow nor tomorrow night.

I've been a month PLUS with NO MEAT and NO DAIRY.   And I feel pretty fantastic.  I've lost my funny steroid weight, so that's great.  And I'm eating a ton of vegetables, fruit, beans, and good grain.  For the first two-and-a-half weeks, I was eating no sugar, too.  Then I told myself I could have a little dark chocolate.  Which led to more.  And then other little sugar treats.  Then I'd go back to one day with no sugar.  And then one day with chocolate animal crackers.  Or Nutella with pretzels.

Suddenly, I wasn't feeling as awesome and my chipmunk face was returning.

The kicker is, sugar never even tastes as good as you think it is going to.  And then you're upset that you gave in.  I mean, really, semi-sweet chocolate chips?  Not worth it.

So, I made a new push for the month of April and most of May.  No more sugar for me, Anna, until May 25th--Ashton's birthday.  Totally doable.

I started on Monday but thought I should put it out there so I have a bit more accountability.

I have been off and on this wagon myself, and I must admit that I am a much nicer mom without the sweet stuff. I broke my rule while I was loading eggs Saturday night, but I was SORRY Sunday. That's all it took. I'm with you. I'll set my goal (aside from a slice of cake at Heidi's wedding next Tuesday, gotta do that) as May 27th, when Tucker graduates from MVHS. Deal?

I need to do the same. I'm still milking the nursing excuse. What will you eat for fun now?

I don't know, can I still have bittersweet chocolate chips? :)

I've been off for four weeks today and it's not getting easier! It's making me crazy but at least it feels good to know I have some will power, right?

Take away my dairy, though, and I'll go crazy! Well really I'd give up the dairy for the sugar but I need my calcium.

Really though I used to burn through butter like a crazy person with all my baking. Now that I don't eat any of it I'm not as inclined to make it!
